Places to see in Abant
Abant Lake and Nature Park is the first stop. It feels so good to take a walk around that lake, take a tour accompanied by bird sounds, or rent a bicycle and pedal if you want. Don't forget to take your picnic basket with you, it is priceless to relax on the grass by the lake.
If you want to explore a little more, Yedigöller National Park is definitely a place to visit. It takes about an hour by car from Abant, but it is worth it. Seven lakes like its name, lush green nature, clean air... Campers, photographers, hikers, everyone is busy with peace in a corner.
Örmeci and Sinekli Plateaus are also very popular. The cool, pine-scented air in summer, the lush green grass... If you want to be alone in nature for a while or if you like camping, you will love these plateaus.
And my recommendation for those who want to rest their souls with the sound of water: Güzeldere and Samandere Waterfalls. You have to drive a bit, but nature is so beautiful that you don't even notice the road. I recommend you to go especially in the morning, it is completely different to experience the serenity of the waterfalls without the crowd.
For those who like visual surprises, there are Akkaya Travertines. Natural formations similar to Pamukkale but much calmer and peaceful. If you go at sunrise or sunset, you will love the play of colors on the stones.
Finally, be sure to stop by the Abant Village Market on your way back. Handmade products of the local people, natural jams, cheeses, handmade ornaments... You can buy a souvenir for yourself, have a warm conversation with the village people and leave with a smile on your face.
