Birgi

Birgi; a village where green meets mansion, history meets poetry, sometimes enthusiastic, sometimes peaceful colors can be observed like a painting. Regardless of everything, it is a painting filled with colors embroidered with verses, songs, memories from the past… The slopes of Birgi are embroidered with lace-like mansions. As we wander through the streets, a different beauty dazzles us at every turn. If we were to list, we could start with Çakırağa Mansion. It was built in 1761. Mr. Sheriff himself has gone, but their images are left behind. The ceiling decorations and the depiction of Istanbul have an unforgettable beauty. We are fascinated! When we look more closely, at hours when visitors to the mansion are rare, we can hear the echoes of the past reverberating in the time tunnel. Apart from the mansions, it is also necessary to look at the spiritual feeling of nature between the romantic slopes. Since the word starts with trees, we need to open a special parenthesis here: centuries-old plane trees share the village square with walnut and chestnut trees. Due to the intensity of our gratitude, we enjoy the taste of our coffee, sweetening the sunset of Birgi, and enjoying it. Ulu Mosque is also famous in Birgi. It was built in 1312. With its peaceful atmosphere, it captivates us. Besides all these, the sincerity of the people in the village to each other keeps it alive. In the villages we visited, we saw such beautiful local restaurants. We encountered a different abundance of flavors in each. We also have a very delicious clay pot kebab and baklava at Baba Restaurant in Birgi.

Accommodation: For those curious: The hotel where we feel the spiritual feeling of Birgi intensely is Saliha Hanım Taş Konak. Art and people come together here, turning into a place where dreams become nature. It's up to us to enjoy it.

Doğanbey Village

Doğanbey (Domatia), one of the least known villages of the Aegean, is the right address for those looking for a peaceful weekend getaway. Where is the place? Aydin, Soke. Domatia, the name of the village, is the name given to one-room houses built in the forest in Greek. The Greeks, who were brought and settled from the islands with the sultan's decree in the 1800s, were sent to their homeland with the exchange that took place in 1924, leaving their homes behind, and the Turks from the Balkans were settled in this village. After today, the name of the village is Doğanbey. In 1985, the village was completely evacuated and moved to a slightly lower part as Yeni Doğanbey due to reasons such as the village being small, getting a lot of wind, being far from agricultural lands, and the roads being too narrow to allow a tractor to pass. Today, Doğanbey is one of the ideal destinations for those looking for peace and tranquillity with its cosy cafes and small hotels.

Here are some little known details about this village:

Historical Richness: Doğanbey village is famous for its historical ruins and old stone houses. The historical textures in the village date back to the Ottoman period.
Stone Houses: The houses in the village are built in traditional Ottoman style and consist of stone structures. These houses attract attention with their original architecture and historical textures.
Quiet and Peaceful Atmosphere: Doğanbey village has a quiet and peaceful atmosphere. Therefore, it is an attractive destination for nature and history lovers.
Bird Paradise: The village is located close to Doğanbey Lagoon. This lagoon is an important region for birdwatchers and is home to various bird species.
Restored Houses: In recent years, many old stone houses in the village have been restored and turned into touristic facilities. In this way, Doğanbey village has become a popular destination for local and foreign tourists.
