Lipsi Island Guide

If you want to get away from the chaos, the crowds, the over-touristy destinations where vacation turns into stress, I will recommend you a tiny island but big at heart: Lipsi Island. Located in the Dodekanes (12 Islands) group of Greece, this hidden beauty is peaceful enough to make you forget the passage of time while swimming in the crystal clear waters of Platis Gialos and eating fresh fish at the tavern in the harbor. Because everything here is “as it is”. There are no token touristic structures. No hotels that have lost their soul for the sake of luxury, no noisy beach bars. Instead, there is a real village life, friendly people, delicious home-cooked food and bays that look like something out of a postcard. It's a small enough island that you can walk from one end to the other in 45 minutes.

Lipsi Island Beaches & Bays

Platis Gialos: Perhaps the most beautiful beach in Lipsi. Calm, natural and surrounded by turquoise waters. Go early in the day, enjoy the sea, and if you have a pastry from Kristallis Bakery, you're done.

Katsadia A wonderful bay accessible by land and boat. Calm like a lake, alone with nature. Moreover, the Dilaila taverna right behind it is perfect for a delicious break of the day.

Kambos, Monodendri and Hoklahoura: If you are looking for even quieter places, you should definitely visit these places. Monodendri, in particular, is a favorite of free-spirited travelers; it is the space for those who want to integrate with nature naked.

Where and What to Eat on Lipsi Island?

Dilaila With its olive oil appetizers, grilled calamari and octopus smelling of the sea, it is a perfect summer lunch stop. Hours pass in the shade of the trees, and before you know it, the sun is about to set...

Manoli's Tastes: It's not by the sea, but the atmosphere, food and hospitality make it a favorite. Be sure to make a reservation in advance, especially during the summer months.

Kristallis Bakery: A Lipsi classic with its cheese pies and traditional delicacies, this bakery has been spreading the fragrant smell of bread on the island since 1951.

Angela Cocktail Bar: A cocktail by the sea? Yes, please. Enjoy the sunset, music and cocktails at Angela Bar.

How to get to Lipsi Island?

There is no direct ferry service from Turkey, but you can easily get there via Kos or Samos. Lipsi is a short ferry ride from one of the Greek islands to the other. If you come by yacht, heaven has already embraced you
