Transportation: How to reach Ikaria?
It is not possible to reach Ikaria directly from Turkey by ferry. However, there are a few different ways to get to Ikaria. First, you need to take a ferry from Kusadasi or Seferihisar to Samos Island in Greece. From Samos, you can use Hellenic Seaways ferries to cross to Ikaria. This journey usually takes 1 hour and 15 minutes and the ships are very comfortable and cozy. There are ferries to Ikaria from different port cities of Samos (Karlovassi or Vathi). You can also reach the island by ferry from Kavala on certain days. If you are traveling with your own car from Istanbul, you can reach Kavala, Greece by land and then take a ferry to Ikaria. However, the cruise to Kavala is quite long and you usually have to spend the night on board.
Ikaria's Villages Worth Exploring
Ikaria is not only famous for its beaches, but also for the villages waiting to be discovered. Even on a four-day vacation, you may realize that the island has many unexplored villages and beaches.
Armenistis The most developed tourist area of Ikaria, Armenistis is a small but charming seaside village. Remember the name Seychelles, as the islanders pronounce it correctly, when visiting the area. It is about a 15 minute walk from the point where you parked your car to the beach. Don't forget to bring water and snacks as you won't find sunbeds or food on the beach.
Nas Beach: Located 3 km from Armenistis, this beach is surrounded by rocks and is very peaceful thanks to its natural structure. Popular with hippies and nudists, Nas Beach has a mesmerizing view, especially at sunset.

Naiades Taverna: Close to Nas Beach, this taverna is a great place to go, especially at sunset. Run by a sweet and friendly mother-daughter duo, it serves local food and invites you to choose the dishes you see in the kitchen. Baked sardines, red mullet, eggplant and tzatziki are a must-try.
Sto Kampi: Located on the road leading to the village of Raches, this mountain restaurant serves some of the best local dishes on the island. You can have a great dinner with dishes such as baked kid with lemon, imam fainted and grilled cheese.
Sto Gialo Kanei Fourtouna: If you're heading to Seychelles Beach, this taverna in the village of Magganitis is an ideal stopover. It will be pleasant to sit against the harbor and have a drink with great music.
