How to get to Ikaria Island
Ikaria Island is a unique Greek island that is not directly accessible from Turkey, but can be explored with a little planning. To reach Ikaria from Turkey, you first need to cross to Samos Island from Kusadasi or Seferihisar. There are ferry services from Kusadasi to the port of Vathi in Samos or from Seferihisar to the port of Pythagorion. These ferries are usually more frequent during the summer months.
After reaching Samos, you can cross to Ikaria Island with ferry companies such as Hellenic Seaways or Dodekanisos Seaways. Ikaria has two main ports: Evdilos and Agios Kirykos. There are regular ferries from the ports of Karlovassi or Vathi on Samos to these two ports. The ferry journey usually takes between 1 hour 10 minutes and 2 hours 15 minutes. Ticket prices may vary depending on the ferry company chosen and the season. For example, ticket prices for ferries traveling between Evdilos and Karlovassi are around €29 on average.
When planning transportation to Ikaria, you should keep in mind that ferry schedules may change according to the season and it is recommended to book tickets in advance. Also, following the discounts and campaigns offered by the ferry companies can make your trip more economical.
