What to do in Soke?
Ancient City of Priene: Priene was one of the places I was mesmerized as soon as I saw it. This is a city where time seems to stand still... Built on a high slope, I sat on the stone steps of the ancient theater and watched the sunset while walking through the stone streets. Especially the elegant columns of the Temple of Athena make you connect with the past.
Doganbey Village: Another place you must visit is Doğanbey Village. As you pass through the restored Greek houses, you feel that time flows in a different way. The streets are quiet and it was impossible not to take photos while walking among the stone houses. Both full of nostalgia and eye-catching.
Bird Sanctuary (Dilek Peninsula - Büyük Menderes Delta National Park): If you are fond of nature, this is an ideal spot for bird watching. When I arrived early in the morning, it was indescribable to see flamingos and other migratory birds soaring around. In silence, you are alone with the sound of nature.
Soke Bazaar and Local Delicacies: Walking around the center of Soke is a pleasant activity in itself. I still remember the olives, cheeses and homemade jams I bought from peasant aunts while browsing the local market. It is a pleasure to have a chat with shopkeepers and to find traces of the past in small shops.
Güllübahçe Neighborhood: This neighborhood, where life flows calmly, has carried the texture of the past to the present without losing it. As I sat in the small cafes and drank my coffee, I stared at the view in front of me for a long time. Especially in spring, it is very good for you to walk the streets full of colorful flowers.
Bicycle Tour in Soke Plain: On a beautiful day, I rented a bicycle and rode around the Söke Plain. Following the dirt road through the cotton fields was like harmonizing with the rhythm of nature. Stopping by village cafes along the way for a cup of tea was a bonus.
