Petra Inn Cappadocia
When the morning breeze touched my face in Cappadocia’s #Uçhisar, I cracked open the window and gazed out over the valley. The sky was adorned with colorful hot air balloons 🎈—each one rising slowly, as if whispering a wish to the heavens. I thought to myself, “I must be living inside a postcard right now.” Then I smiled and corrected myself: “No darling, I’m at Petra Inn Cappadocia (@petrainncappadocia)—it’s even better than a postcard!” ✨
Valleys in Bloom with Spring Festivals
In Cappadocia, spring isn’t just about blossoming trees 🌸—it feels like every flower blooms alongside a new festival. In April and May, the whole region turns into a celebration 🎉. As balloons glide silently overhead 🎡, the scent of grapes from Ürgüp’s harvest festivals fills the air 🍇. Meanwhile, in Avanos, traditional crafts festivals pop up, each stall telling the story of an artisan’s touch.
Just imagine: you’re staring up at the sky during the morning balloon festival, then getting giddy like a child at a pottery workshop in the evening. You think to yourself, “Should I try it too?” Next thing you know, your hands are covered in clay, and your soul feels just a little softer.
An Immersive Historical Stay
What’s the most magical part of Petra Inn? It’s that moment you step through the door and feel like you’ve entered a time tunnel 🕰️. The heart of the hotel is the Çarhacı Mustafa Efendi Mansion, built over 200 years ago. But you’re not just sleeping inside a stone building—you’re suspended between Cappadocia’s past and present.
Each room balances the coolness of stone with the warmth of history. You can choose to stay in a traditional stone room or opt for one of the naturally carved cave suites. It’s the perfect harmony for those who say, “I want to feel history, but I’d like a jacuzzi too” 🛁
As you sip your morning coffee ☕ in the tranquil courtyard, you can actually hear the silence. And that valley view… it doesn’t just feed your eyes—it nourishes your soul 🌄
Flavor & View: Ardıç Restaurant and Ardıç Bar
The testi kebab I had at Ardıç Restaurant is still on my mind 🍖. Slow-cooked for hours in earthen pots, the meat was so tender it practically melted in my mouth 🤤
In the evenings, I sip a drink at Ardıç Bar overlooking the valley 🍷. As the sunset paints the sky in warm hues, I find myself drifting into thought, smiling: “Maybe just one more slice of köftür dessert?” 🍰 Made with grapes from the region’s vineyards, it’s truly unforgettable.
Falling Under the Spell of Cappadocia
Staying at Petra Inn only deepens the enchantment of Cappadocia. Walking through Devrent Valley, I’m struck by how nature still sculpts like a master artist 🏞️—every rock and curve seems to tell a fairytale.
But Cappadocia isn’t just captivating in its beauty—it’s steeped in history.
From Paleolithic cave dwellings to the written records of the Hittites, this land has housed civilizations like the Persians, the Kingdom of Cappadocia, Romans, Seljuks, and Ottomans.
Both the Silk Road and the Royal Persian Road passed through here, making it a cultural crossroads that birthed a rich, layered heritage—from early Christian churches and frescoes to underground cities, Seljuk caravanserais, and grand mosques.
The Story of Petra Inn
Petra Inn was built around the historic Çarhacı Mustafa Efendi Mansion. With 4 suites in the mansion dating back to the 1800s and 10 more carved into the region’s ancient caves, the hotel boasts 19 unique suites in total.
To protect this incredible legacy, a long and meticulous restoration process took place. The original hammam and winemaking rooms (şırahane) in the mansion were preserved. Stone arches were reinforced with their own native stones. The newly added rooms and wide terraces were also built using ancient stones, remaining completely loyal to the original architecture.
The name says it all—Petra means “rock” in Latin and “stone” in Greek. Naturally, the hotel’s concept is centered around stone.
Each suite is inspired by a semi-precious stone. We explored the stories and energies of these stones, and let them guide the design of each room.
All suites feature underfloor heating, carved stone fireplaces, jacuzzis, and handwoven rugs—where luxury meets heritage in every detail.
The View You Dream Of
Nestled against the cliffs of Uçhisar, Petra Inn offers sweeping views of Pigeon Valley and, in the distance, Mount Erciyes 🌄. Whether from the wide shared terraces or the private terraces of certain suites, you can enjoy this stunning view—sometimes even from your bed or jacuzzi.
Sipping on local organic wines, surrounded by the magic of history and nature, there’s no better place to be.
Pet-Friendly and Family-Oriented
Petra Inn is pet-friendly too 🐾—you can easily travel with your little companions. Children under 6 stay for free 👶, making this a wonderful option for both romantic getaways and family vacations.
Plus, there are sweet little surprises for guests who book through @kucukoteller 🎁
Do Yourself a Favor
This spring, do something good for yourself. Wake up one morning at Petra Inn. Maybe you’ll fall in love over testi kebab, maybe you’ll map out a new life at Ardıç Bar… or maybe your heart will just feel a little warmer, and your face will carry a quiet smile.
But one thing is certain: Cappadocia is far too beautiful for just one visit.
Fair warning though: those who visit want to stay. And those who stay… never want to leave ❤️
And me?
I think I’ll be here just a little longer. I owe it to myself.
