Small & Boutique Hotels in Paxos Island
In the middle of the Ionian Sea, far away from the crowds, there is an island where time seems to pass a little more slowly: Paxos. Small on the map but big in your soul, this island is a true escape with its mesmerizing blue tones, olive groves dating back to the 14th century and its silence. Paxos, which attracts attention with its untouchedness throughout history, is not a place that can be reached from anywhere at any time. There is neither an airport nor regular ferry services. Maybe that's why it has remained so beautiful. Gaios, the center of the island, is both a yacht port and a warm and elegant settlement where you can breathe that typical “Greek town” air. As you approach Paxos by boat, following the unique sea road that curves in a “U” shape on the map, you watch the dance of green and blue. When you reach the shore, you're greeted by elegant Italian-Greek architecture, villages that come to life in the shade of centuries-old olive trees, and an understated but noble tranquility.
How to get to Paxos?
The best thing about Paxos is that it's a bit of a hassle to get there. Because in this way, it has not yet succumbed to mass tourism. First of all, you fly to Corfu Island. You can get from Corfu to Paxos by ferry or sea taxis. There are regular ferry services between Corfu and Paxos during the summer season. Alternatively, private boat rental is also very popular, especially for yachts coming from Italy, Paxos is a very preferred stop.
Beaches of Paxos
The beaches of Paxos are usually pebbly and deep blue. The color of the sea is as if poured from a painter's palette.
Mongonissi Beach: Ideal for families with children, shallow and sheltered.
Kipiadi, Levrechio, Marmari and Kaki Lagada: Perfect for those who want to be alone with nature.
Erimitis Beach: Watch the sunset here. Hidden under the steep cliffs, this beach is a small reward for those who are willing to walk a little.
Antipaxos
It would be a big mistake to come to Paxos and not visit Antipaxos. A 15-minute boat ride from Gaios, this tiny island is famous for its dreamy beaches.
Vrika and Voutoumi Beaches offer the most beautiful turquoise water.
There's nothing on the island except a few tavernas, but all you need is peace and the sea.
Don't forget to try the local wines on this island covered with vineyards.
Where to Eat in Paxos?
Fresh seafood, olive oil dishes, homemade wines and of course Greek salad...
In Gaios, restaurants like “Taka Taka”, ‘Genesis’ or “La Vista” are delicious and scenic.
In the towns of Lakka and Loggos, there are shabbier but very pleasant taverns.
