Kusadasi Guide
Kuşadası is a town in Aydın province, called “The Island” by the people of the region, close to many historical centers, and has gained worldwide fame in international tourism with its port, sea and entertainment centers. Kusadasi, which was a small town years ago, is now a place built around similar concrete piles, but still reflects great beauties with its bazaar and sea.
Kuşadası combines history, nature, sea, traditional and modern life. Kuşadası is at the crossroads of Anatolian, Aegean and Mediterranean civilizations and in a very special geography.
Although the history of Kuşadası as a settlement is not known exactly, there is evidence that it was home to states such as the Lelegs in 3000 BC. Kuşadası is located in the middle of the historical region called Ancient Ionia. For those who are interested in history and discovering the civilizations of these lands, Ephesus, the largest archaeological site in the world, and other Ionian cities such as Hierapolis, Pyrenean, Miletus, Didim, Heraclia and Magnesia, Teos are within a 60-kilometer circle with Kusadasi at its center.
A second and larger circle can be drawn at a range of 150-200 km and includes Aphrodisias, Pergamum, Nisia, Simyrna and Labranda... In the vicinity of Kusadasi, there is something of beauty to interest almost everyone. Bodrum and Samos can be visited even as a day trip.
Tourism in Kusadasi started long ago. In the 17th century, Pasha, who was the governor of the region, built many inns, baths and fountains in the region. Again in that period, goods coming to the region from Venice and Italy were started to be marketed in the inns and bazaars in Kuşadası. In time, this mobility in trade started to spread to the region. Although tourism is not for vacation but for trade, Kuşadası is one of the regions where tourism started to develop in our country.
The air in Kuşadası, just like in Ayvalık, is rich in oxygen thanks to the air currents coming from the Kaz Mountains. With its sea, nature, history, proximity to the Virgin Mary and all its natural beauties, Kuşadası is among the well-known touristic regions in the world today. Every year, many tourists come to Kuşadası not only from our country but also from abroad. We can see many tourists in the region every period of the year, usually in the summer months.
One of the most beautiful places in Kusadasi is the National Park. Four of the most beautiful and well-preserved beaches in Turkey are located in the National Park, which is only 30 km from the center. Not only the sand and the sea, but also the oxygen provided by the well-preserved pine forests with shades of green accompanying the blue sky will make you feel refreshed.
