You need a Schengen visa to visit Meis Island. The gate visa applied for day visits departing from Kaş is quite common. It is necessary to apply at least 7 days before the trip. For burgundy passport holders, this gate visa makes Meis easily accessible. There is also a visa exemption for citizens of some countries who have a residence permit in Turkey.

1. Blue Cave: The most visited natural wonder of Kastellorizo. You can only enter the cave in the morning because the sun's rays, which give the cave that magical blue color, only reach the cave in the first half of the morning. You may have to duck as you glide into the cave in a small boat, but once inside the view is breathtaking.
2. Castle of St. John (Castello Rosso): Located at the top of the island, this historic castle is the perfect stop to witness the island's history and take in the spectacular view. Seeing Kaş, the island's harbor and Mandra Bay from the top leaves an indescribable feeling.
3. Port and Colorful Streets: The tiny but lively harbor of Meis Island immediately steals your heart with its colorful houses. Walking through the narrow streets, browsing the local shops and chatting with the locals turn into the most enjoyable moments of the day.
4. Aya Yorgi Island: This small island, which can be reached even by swimming, is the definition of peace. Watching the sunset here, sitting quietly against the sea takes away the tiredness of the whole day.

The island cuisine is simple but elaborate. Seafood, olive oil dishes, homemade appetizers are at the forefront. Lazarakis Restaurant is a must-visit place for everyone who comes to Meis. Ta Platania is also the restaurant featured in the movie ‘Mediterraneo’. Do not return here without eating the famous “stuffed onion”.

Since Kastellorizo is a small island, the number of hotels is limited, but most of the establishments are quite cute and friendly. Colorful hostels and small hotels converted from old stone houses attract attention. If you want to wake up in a room with a sea view, early booking is important.
When to go to Kastellorizo Island?
KastellorizoIsland can be visited most of the year thanks to its Mediterranean climate. The peak season is between June and September. Months like May or late September are much more peaceful. Away from the crowds but you can still enjoy the warm weather.
