As you leave behind the winding roads of Marmaris and glide down the hill toward Selimiye, you can’t help but take a deep breath. This famous meeting point of the Aegean and the Mediterranean might just be one of the greatest promises of tranquility geography has to offer.
Formerly known as Losta, this quiet fishing village was a hidden paradise accessible only by sea until 15 years ago. Even though the road has since opened, the noisy clubs and crowded beaches of the city center have never found their way here. With its seaside fish restaurants, tiny shops, and a cove as calm as a lake, Selimiye remains a very special destination that has managed to stay measured.

At Sahil Pansiyon (@selimiyesahilpansiyon), located in the Buruncuk area of that peaceful cove at the entrance to Selimiye, that’s exactly the feeling I get. Its story is pure family labor. What started as a five-room journey at the request of daughters Nigar and Begüm, driven by their mother and father, has now become a nine-room sanctuary. Son-in-law Tekin Bey, who handles the carpentry, runs the administrative side, while the other son-in-law, Hasan Bey, works wonders in the kitchen.
The plates prepared with vegetables they grow in their own garden are truly flawless. The octopus, in particular, prepared by Hasan Bey, has earned a well-deserved reputation around here. As you sip your morning coffee in the shade of the mulberry tree, watching the cats wander through the garden, you’re struck by how slowly time moves. The tradition here — “tea and cookies at five o’clock” — is included in the price and is priceless. At five, all the guests gather in the garden to share the quiet together.
While you’re in the area, a daily boat tour is a must. In the late afternoon, it’s a great idea to head over to the Söğüt side and watch the sunset at Teras Söğüt Restaurant (@terassogutrestaurant), known for its stunning view.
You should also add Denizkızı Restaurant (@denizkizisogut) in Söğüt to your list; with its location overlooking Simi Island and its fresh seafood, it’s become one of the most refined spots lately.
