Parga, on the west coast of Greece, stretching like a colorful painting overlooking the Ionian Sea, is one of those places that makes you wish you had come here sooner. With its pastel-colored houses, narrow cobblestone streets and deep blue beaches, Parga is a favorite for both romantic getaways and peaceful vacations. This coastal town, which has been home to various civilizations since ancient times, is today a peaceful port with its nature and friendly people. It's ideal not just for taking photos, but for really slowing down, savoring and getting lost in the moment.

The Venetian Castle, which embraces Parga from above, is one of the most magnificent buildings in the town. It is the perfect place for both history and landscape lovers. When you look down from the castle walls, you see the legendary view of turquoise waters mingling with the bays. It is beautiful at sunrise and sunset. A coffee, silence and lots of sighs are guaranteed.

If you don't mind a little more walking, you can also visit Agia village, 5-6 km from Parga, and go up to Ali Pasha Castle, which bears Ottoman traces. This place is more secluded, more in touch with nature. A journey through history with paths, olive trees and the sound of crickets in the background.

The Most Beautiful Beaches of Parga Island

Valtos Beach: Perhaps Parga's best-known beach, stretching just behind the castle. A wide sandy beach, turquoise water and a paradise for those who want to get in touch with the sea. Rent a canoe or take a walk along the beach. You'll lose track of time until sunset.

Lichnos Beach: If you want a little more calmness, Lichnos Beach, 4 km away, is waiting for you. It is possible to see the bottom of the sea, so clear. If you wish, you can explore the sea caves and have lunch in the taverns on the shore. We think you should lie on a sun lounger and read a book for hours.

Sarakiniko Beach: A little out of Parga, but definitely high on the list. Enjoy the sea in a tiny bay, in the shade of olive trees, away from the crowds. Especially in the morning, the sea is like glass. You can take snacks with you and create your own little hermitage here.

Where to eat in Parga Island?

Eating in Parga is not just about getting full, it's a ritual. Sea, earth and history come together in every plate that comes to the table.

Gummy octopus, lemon squid, baked feta cheese, stuffed olive oil dishes, homemade wines... And of course, a must on every table: tzatziki.

Taverna Stefanos: Close to Valtos Beach, a family-run business with a great interpretation of local flavors. The view is a bonus.
Castello Restaurant: Just below the castle. You dine under the stars in the shadow of the stone walls.
Barakouda: Very ambitious about seafood. One of the places preferred by the locals.

Nightlife in Parga Island

Parga is a small town, but it is very lively at night. Bars lined up side by side by the sea, street musicians, a gentle breeze and warming cocktails.

Angelos Cocktail Bar: In the city center, with a great atmosphere. It gets crowded especially after sunset.
Villa Rossa Wine Bar: A sanctuary for wine lovers. We recommend it for those who want to try local wines and wines from all over Greece.

Culture and Festivals in Parga Island

In summer, Parga takes on a completely different atmosphere. The Varkarola Festival, held in July and August, is a unique experience where boats sail on the beach with torches, music and dancing. Wandering around the local markets and finding homemade jams, soaps and handcrafted jewelry is also a pleasure.

When to visit Parga?

Parga is at its best between late May and mid-September. June and September mean less crowds and cooler evenings. In August, the city is a bit crowded but the energy is high.
