How to get to Andros Island
Since there is no airport in Andros, the most practical way to reach the island from Turkey is to fly to Athens first. Since there is no direct flight from Athens to the island, it is necessary to go to Rafina Port and reach Andros by ferry from there. It takes about 20 minutes from Athens Airport to Rafina Port. If you want to go by taxi, the average fare is around 30 Euros. As a more economical option, buses are also available, departing from the airport every half hour and costing 6 Euros. However, it is important to note that there is no bus service at night. To save time, we flew from Istanbul to Athens in the evening, spent the night in Rafina and took the first ferry to Andros at 07:25 the next morning. If you arrive in Athens early in the morning, it is also possible to take the ferry from Rafina on the same day without the need for accommodation. There are ferries at different times of the day. We bought ferry tickets from the agencies at the port, but you can also buy them online in advance. A single ferry ticket is about 25 Euros. Andros is the first stop of the ferry and the journey takes about 2 hours. The ferry then continues to Tinos and Mykonos islands.
