Canakkale City Guide

Çanakkale is a historical and touristic city in the Marmara region of northwestern Turkey. There are many places to visit and activities to do here.

  • Çanakkale Martyrs Monument: A monument dedicated to the soldiers who lost their lives in World War II. It is the symbolic structure of the city and offers a 360-degree view.
  • Çimenlik Castle: A castle dating back to the Ottoman Empire. Today it serves as a museum and contains many interesting things such as historical artifacts and a collection of weapons.
  • Kilitbahir Castle: Again a castle dating back to the Ottoman Empire. The view of the Bosphorus from here is wonderful. The museum in the castle exhibits historical artifacts and weapons.
  • Clock Tower: Built in the 19th century, it is a historical tower. It is one of the symbols of the city and is located in Cumhuriyet Square.
  • Historical Bazaar: Çanakkale's historic bazaars are home to many shops and stores offering handicrafts, traditional products, souvenirs and local delicacies.
  • Ancient City of Troy: An ancient city close to Çanakkale city center. It is mentioned in Homer's Iliad and is famous for its historical ruins.
    Bosphorus Cruise: The Dardanelles is famous for its historical and natural beauties. Boat tours in the strait offer a magnificent view.
  • Anzac Cove and Gallipoli Peninsula Historical National Park: The site of the Anzac landings during the First World War. There are many historical sites and monuments here.
  • Ancient City of Troy: An ancient city located in Tevfikiye village in Çanakkale province. It is known as the place where the Trojan War, described in Homer's Iliad epic, took place.
