📍 Birgi

Birgi; a village where green meets mansion, history meets poetry, sometimes enthusiastic, sometimes peaceful colors can be observed like a painting. Regardless of everything, it is a painting filled with colors embroidered with verses, songs, memories from the past… The slopes of Birgi are embroidered with lace-like mansions. As we wander through the streets, a different beauty dazzles us at every turn. If we were to list, we could start with Çakırağa Mansion. It was built in 1761. Mr. Sheriff himself has gone, but their images are left behind. The ceiling decorations and the depiction of Istanbul have an unforgettable beauty. We are fascinated! When we look more closely, at hours when visitors to the mansion are rare, we can hear the echoes of the past reverberating in the time tunnel. Apart from the mansions, it is also necessary to look at the spiritual feeling of nature between the romantic slopes. Since the word starts with trees, we need to open a special parenthesis here: centuries-old plane trees share the village square with walnut and chestnut trees. Due to the intensity of our gratitude, we enjoy the taste of our coffee, sweetening the sunset of Birgi, and enjoying it. Ulu Mosque is also famous in Birgi. It was built in 1312. With its peaceful atmosphere, it captivates us. Besides all these, the sincerity of the people in the village to each other keeps it alive. In the villages we visited, we saw such beautiful local restaurants. We encountered a different abundance of flavors in each. We also have a very delicious clay pot kebab and baklava at Baba Restaurant in Birgi.

🏡 Accommodation: For those curious: The hotel where we feel the spiritual feeling of Birgi intensely is @salihahanimtaskonak. Art and people come together here, turning into a place where dreams become nature. It's up to us to enjoy it. Details on the blog https://www.boutiquesmallhotels.com/birgi-hotels

📍 Doğanbey Village

🌿 Doğanbey, one of the least known villages in the Aegean, is the right address for those seeking a peaceful weekend getaway.

📍 Where is it? Aydın, Söke

🏡 The name of the village, Domatia, comes from Greek; it refers to single-room houses built in the forest.

🌳 In the 1800s, with a decree from the sultan, Greeks were brought from the islands and settled here. With the population exchange that took place starting in 1924, they left their homes behind and were sent back to their homeland, and Turks from the Balkans were settled in this village. After that, the village was renamed Doğanbey.

🛻 Due to reasons such as the village's small size, excessive wind exposure, distance from agricultural land, and narrow roads that do not allow tractors to pass, in 1985, the village was completely evacuated and moved a little further down as New Doğanbey.

✌️Today, Doğanbey is an ideal destination for those seeking peace and tranquility, with its charming cafes and boutique hotels. Here are some lesser-known details about this village:

1 Historical Richness: Doğanbey village is famous for its historical ruins and old stone houses. The historical structures in the village date back to the Ottoman period.

2 Stone Houses: The houses in the village are built in the traditional Ottoman style and consist of stone structures. These houses attract attention with their original architecture and historical textures.

3 Quiet and Peaceful Atmosphere: Doğanbey village has a calm and peaceful atmosphere. Therefore, it is an attractive destination for nature and history lovers.

4 Bird Paradise: The village is located near Doğanbey Lagoon. This lagoon is an important area for bird watchers and is home to various bird species.

5 Restored Houses: In recent years, many old stone houses in the village have been restored and converted into tourist facilities. As a result, Doğanbey village has become a popular destination for both domestic and foreign tourists. Doğanbey village offers visitors a unique experience with its historical and natural beauties. Be sure to pay a visit!
