Where to Eat in Mersin?

Mersin is a place where its cuisine is just as important as its culture. There are several iconic dishes to try, and Tantuni is one of the most famous. Cezerye (a sweet made from carrots and nuts) is also a must-try, as well as Blue Crab.

Other notable dishes include Kerebiç, Batırık, and Topalak Soup. Mersin also has its own version of Künefe, which is unique to the region. The Yörük breakfast is very famous, and there's also a snack called Sıkma, which consists of lavash bread filled with potatoes, cheese, and other fillings, similar to flatbread.

Batırık is a type of cold soup, similar to a tomato-based dish, often made with bulgur and peanuts, typically consumed in homes. If you're looking to have a village-style breakfast, you can go to Narlıkuyu Village Breakfast Restaurant. For a delicious Künefe, head to Saray Künefe in Silifke. You can also enjoy fish at Cemal's Place in Narlıkuyu.

In Mersin city center, you can visit İskele Marin and Arabağa Kahvecisi, one of the rare places where you can enjoy Turkish coffee. For Kerebiç, you can visit Haydar Usta. For another great Künefe, try Künefeci Emin Usta, and don’t forget to try Şalgam Suyu (Turnip Juice), a famous local drink.

For Tantuni, you can visit Göksel Tantuni or Denizhan Tantuni.
