How to get to Skopelos Island

Transportation from Turkey to Skopelos Island is generally available by land and sea. Skopelos is one of the four beautiful islands in the Aegean Sea, known as the Sporades Islands. Its other neighbors are Skiathos, Alonnisos and Skyros. There are several different ways to reach Skopelos. Those who want to go by plane should first fly to Athens, then take a short domestic flight to Skiathos Island. From Skiathos, it is possible to reach Skopelos after a pleasant 30-45 minute ferry ride. Although it sounds a bit troublesome, all fatigue is forgotten the moment you set foot on the island

1. By Air

The nearest airport to Skopelos Island is located in Skiathos Island. You can fly from Turkey to Athens or Thessaloniki and then take a domestic flight to Skiathos Airport. You can then cross from Skiathos to Skopelos by ferry or sea taxi.

2. By land and by sea

You can reach Volos Port in Greece by bus or rental car from major cities such as Istanbul, Thessaloniki or Athens. It is possible to go to Skopelos Island with ferry services from Volos Port. Volos Port is one of the closest major ports to Skopelos Island and ferries are more frequent during the summer months. Alternatively, you can take buses or trains from Thessaloniki or Athens to Volos and then ferries to Skopelos Island.

3. Direct Transportation by Sea

If you are on one of the Aegean coasts of Turkey, you can reach Skopelos with direct ferry services from ports such as Bodrum, Marmaris, Kusadasi. Especially during the summer months, ferry services on these routes are very popular.
