Casa Mila Assos

Built with natural stones in Aegean architectural style, Casa Mila Assos is situated along the coast with its private beach area and outdoor pool.

Assos, where history quietly coexists with the sea. This is not a place that appreciates rushing. Mornings are for wandering through stone streets, afternoons for cooling off in the sea, and evenings for watching the sunset from the Temple of Athena. Somewhere in between come olive oil dishes, a long coffee, and the inevitable question: “Should we stay one more night?” You may arrive with a plan, but Assos usually has a better one.

The beauty of Assos is that it refuses to be defined by a single kind of holiday. Ancient ruins, the stone houses of Behramkale, secluded coves, the villages of the Kaz Mountains, and the flavors of the Aegean all come together in one destination. So instead of spending your entire trip stretched out on the beach, it’s worth leaving room for a walk, a little exploration, and finding the perfect place to watch the day come to an end.

Your first stop should be the Ancient City of Assos and the Temple of Athena. Visit close to sunset, when the panoramic views across to Lesbos make the ancient ruins feel even more timeless. Afterwards, stroll through the narrow streets of Behramkale before heading down to the historic harbor. Spend one day swimming at Kadırga Cove, another discovering the quieter shores of Sivrice or Sokakağzı. If you have a car, the villages of Adatepe and Yeşilyurt are easy additions to your itinerary. And if you feel like taking a short break from the sea, Kaz Mountains National Park offers an entirely different kind of escape.

In Assos, the perfect daily routine almost creates itself: history in the morning, swimming in the afternoon, sunset in the evening, followed by a long Aegean dinner. It may not sound extravagant, but it’s exactly the kind of balance most of us hope to find on vacation.

For this trip, we stayed at Casa Mila Assos. Located directly on the waterfront in Kozlu, within the Sahil Küme Evler area, it provides an ideal base for exploring Assos’ coves, villages, archaeological sites, and the Kaz Mountains. On days when you simply don’t feel like going anywhere, the hotel’s private beach and pier make staying put an easy decision. That might be one of the greatest luxuries a holiday can offer.

The story of Casa Mila actually began in the village of Yeşilyurt. Its inspiration comes from the Italian phrase “Mia casa è tua casa” — “Our home is your home.” That spirit has now found a new address on the Assos coastline. The property previously operated as Ida Costa Assos, but after changing ownership it underwent an extensive transformation—from the architecture and landscaping to the rooms, restaurant, and beach facilities. Renovation started in March, and by the end of June the hotel welcomed its very first guests under its new identity.

Rather than aiming for extravagance, the design focuses on blending naturally with its surroundings. Local stone, wood, warm earthy tones, and clean contemporary lines create an atmosphere that feels calm instead of flashy. The garden, restaurant, beach, and pier are not designed as separate spaces, but as parts of one continuous living environment where guests naturally move throughout the day. The inspiration comes equally from the understated elegance of the Mediterranean and the timeless character of Assos itself.

The rooms continue that same philosophy—comfortable, peaceful, and free from unnecessary excess. Accommodation options include 20 m² Standard Rooms with mountain views, 24 m² Superior Rooms overlooking the garden, and 30 m² Deluxe Rooms featuring garden views and private terraces. Our favorite moments were simple ones: enjoying coffee accompanied by birdsong in the morning, then walking down to the pier in the evening to watch the final light disappear over the sea. Some places encourage you to make plans; others invite you to abandon them. Casa Mila Assos definitely belongs to the second category.

The restaurant brings together the flavors of the North Aegean and the Mediterranean with a contemporary touch. Breakfast highlights fresh local produce, while dinner focuses on seasonal seafood, regional olive oils, wild herbs, carefully selected meats, and the chef’s signature dishes. As the sun sets, the tables become about much more than food—they become about slowing down. You know those evenings when checking the time somehow feels unnecessary? This is one of those places.

Throughout the season, Casa Mila Assos plans to host live music evenings, beach events, gastronomic gatherings, and special themed experiences. The hotel is owned by Levent Ağan, and its boutique character comes less from its size than from its philosophy of hospitality: personalized, warm, and attentive service delivered to a consistently high standard. Luxury here isn’t about making a statement; it’s about peace, elegance, and feeling genuinely well looked after.

Guests booking through Küçük Oteller can enjoy exclusive rates using a special reservation code. Depending on availability, additional benefits may include early check-in, late check-out, room upgrades, welcome treats, and special privileges at the restaurant.

Please note that pets are not accepted. The hotel’s child policy is designed around its peaceful, relaxation-focused concept and is shared with guests during the reservation process.

A few of our favorite places to eat around Assos:

Assos Yıldız Balık – Fresh seafood and traditional Aegean meze in the Ancient Harbor.
Ethem ile Aslı’nın Yeri (Sivrice Cove) – A wonderful spot for seafood and authentic Aegean appetizers.
Assos Club Beyaz (Kadırga Cove) – Perfect for a relaxing seaside break.
Yahya Usta (Kadırga Cove) – Don’t leave without trying the famous almond ice cream.
Doğa Köy Evi (Behramkale) – Ideal for coffee, gözleme, or homemade Turkish mantı.
One final tip before visiting Assos: having a car makes all the difference. It allows you to explore Kadırga, Sivrice, Sokakağzı, Büyükhusun Beach, Adatepe, Yeşilyurt, and Kaz Mountains National Park at your own pace. Staying at Casa Mila Assos means you can enjoy a beachfront setting while using it as the perfect base for discovering the entire region.

To borrow a famous line from Turkish cinema: “Life is short, and the birds are flying.” In Assos, we’d happily add one more sentence: when the sea is only a few steps away, it’s worth leaving your schedule a little open.

Especially its architecture and landscape attract attention. It is in perfect harmony with the architecture of my region. I say "my region" because I'm from here. I stay on this beach every summer, I have never seen such a clean, quiet and peaceful place.
