Akyaka Guide
Akyaka, located at the junction of lush green forests and deep blue seas, is a holiday resort in the Ula district of Muğla. It is located in the east of Gökova Gulf and in the middle of the road connecting Marmaris and Muğla. Starting at the 15th km of the Muğla-Marmaris road, you should cross the 7 km road that descends from Sakar Pass to the plain either on the way to or on the way back in daylight.
The view of the plain and the Gulf of Gökova is truly stunning. There are parking lots on the side of the road to enjoy the view. Pull your car over and dream away. The Gulf is often shrouded in mist and offers an even more dreamlike view. As this winding road descends to the plain, it splits into Akyaka. You turn right and enter Akyaka through the pines. If you pass this turnoff, turn left at the Marmaris-Muğla junction (not Marmaris side). At the end of this road, turn left and follow the sparkling stream called Azmak. The special architecture of Akyaka will immediately attract your attention.
Azmak Creek and the sea of Akyaka are as clear and clean as an aquarium. The most beautiful wooden buildings line up on your left and right. It is hard not to envy and envy. You know how one of the inscriptions on the back of trucks reads “Don't jinx it, work hard and it will be yours”? Don't envy, you can stay in these houses for a few nights even if they are not yours. Most of Akyaka's hotels and pensions are built in this beautiful architecture. The creek, which flows gently and in which ducks and geese play, flows in and out of the gardens of some hotels and houses. When it reaches the sea, it starts another adventure. If you turn left as you enter Akyaka city center and head towards the forest area, you will reach the beach. The sea is shallow and a bit murky because it is wavy.
This is the point where Azmak stream meets the sea. If you wish, you can enter Azmak by boat and watch huge freshwater fish or water snakes dancing in the clear water. The lush pine forest starts right next to the city center. There are also bungalows for accommodation. You need to go further to enter the sea from the small sandy bays hidden by the forest.
You can reach these bays by renting a boat from Akyaka or by walking. If you want to witness all these beauties closely and spend your summer vacation in Akyaka, it will be useful to review our site.
