Places to Eat in Sporades
The Sporades Islands, lying quietly in the middle of the Aegean Sea in northeastern Greece, offer an unforgettable vacation not only for its natural beauty, but also for its rich and friendly food and drink culture. From seafood to homemade pies, from old recipes to modern twists, a wide range of culinary experiences awaits you.
Skiathos
Ergon stands out with its traditional Greek appetizers prepared with modern touches. The dishes prepared with fresh ingredients are very appealing to the eye and palate. For a romantic evening by the sea, you can watch the sunset accompanied by the elegant presentations and fresh seafood at Sofia Restaurant. For those who don't want to eat fish all the time, Maria's Pizza is a nice getaway with its thin crust pizzas and garden. You can have your afternoon coffee or a light drink at Bourtzi, overlooking the harbor of Skiathos.
Skopelos
Skopelos has a lively atmosphere in the spirit of the movie Mamma Mia. It's not only full of beautiful views, but also delicious food. Anatoli Restaurant is an authentic taverna on a high point of the island, with live rembetiko music every evening, giving you a sense of the Greek spirit. The “shrimp saganaki” and house wines are especially recommended. If you prefer a quieter and greener environment, the garden of Anna's Restaurant is the place for you. The calamari and seafood spaghetti are legendary. For a classic evening by the sea, Muses Greek Restaurant meets expectations in terms of flavor and view. Kyrato's Kitchen is one of the most popular taverns on the island. It is known for its famous guests and music every evening. We recommend the stewed kid and stuffed zucchini blossoms. For those who are tired of fish, Gousto is a good alternative with its successful pizzas. For breakfast or a sweet break, stop by Kanela Breakfast House. Homemade croissants, cakes and sandwiches await you. Michalis Pies is by far the best place for Skopelos Pie, the local delicacy of the island. It is best to go early in the morning and get it hot.
If you want to have dinner with a sunset view, Korali Agnondas is the perfect place. For a break after enjoying the beach, Stafilos Restaurant and Limnonari Taverna are also very special places in terms of both view and taste. Alonissos, a quieter island, is known for its naturalness and tranquility. The food and drink is also understated but delicious. To Perasma serves fresh seafood in the old village with a wonderful view. You should definitely try the octopus stew and lobster pasta.
In the harbor area, Ostria and Gorgona Taverna serve traditional Greek dishes. For a drink at sunset, Cafe Del Mar is a great choice with its friendly atmosphere. If you want to have some fun at night, you can explore the island at night with live music at Panselinos Bar.
Skyros
Skyros, the least touristy but most authentic island of Sporades, reflects its deep-rooted traditions in its food and drink culture. Mouria Taverna is simple and delicious, with dishes prepared with their own catch right by the sea. Terpsis offers classic recipes prepared with local ingredients in the center. Fava paste and stuffed peppers stand out especially. Maritsa, which has been serving since 1954, offers a nostalgic experience with homemade delicacies such as meatballs and cheese pies. The family-run Amfiliki Tavern is also among the best on the island, especially with its seafood and appetizers.
The Sporades Islands are a true route of discovery, not only for their nature and history, but also for the flavors that leave their mark on the palate. Whether you enjoy a Greek night with live music or a light dinner on the beach with the sunset, you will find a piece of Aegean in every bite and a piece of Greek hospitality in every conversation.
