When you enter Çandarlı from the east, you are welcomed by a Citadel with its pencil-like towers resembling Genoese castles. At every hour of the day, it reflects itself in beautiful colours to the people and guests. The famous grand vizier of Mehmed the Conqueror, Çandarlı Halil Pasha, had this castle built 500 years ago. Right next to this majestic fortress, a two-storey house can be seen greeting the sunrise, which adds colour to the silhouette of Çandarlı. While the fortress shines with its light earth-coloured body walls, the mansion dated 1859 catches the eye with its red stones.
