New Era in Short-Term Tourist Rentals

A new regulation has been introduced regarding the promotion of residential properties rented out for tourism purposes. Under the updated rule, if a property's location, features, or physical characteristics are presented to users in a misleading way through text, advertisements, posters, brochures, social media, websites, or similar channels, a single administrative sanction will be imposed on the document holder for that specific violation.

The amendment was published in the Official Gazette as part of the “Regulation on the Amendment of the Regulation on the Activity of Renting Residences for Tourism Purposes,” adding a new paragraph to Article 10 of the existing regulation. According to details shared by Bloomberg HT, the change clearly covers misleading promotional practices carried out through various advertising or digital platforms.

With the newly added paragraph, it is stipulated that in cases where the same infringement is detected, only one administrative penalty will be applied to the certificate holder. The aim is to strengthen oversight and reduce deceptive promotional content related to tourist rental properties.
