Mugla Akbuk Guide
It is one of the places where everyone who wants to enjoy the silence, nature and clear waters on the Aegean coast will fall one day: Akbuk Bay. After discovering this little paradise of Muğla, which stands out with its clean air and clear sea away from the crowds, you will never see any other place in the same way. Just near Akyaka, Akbük is located in a valley where nature generously lays out all the colors of nature. The inviting sparkle of the sea during the day and the cool breezes coming from the forest in the evenings slow down time in the bay and city life is completely forgotten.
Where is Akbük Bay and How to get there?
It is located in the inner parts of the Gulf of Gökova, within the borders of the Menteşe district of Muğla. It is approximately 25 km from Akyaka and 45-50 km from the center of Muğla. Transportation is possible with more than one route. The road coming from Akyaka is a winding route but fascinating with its view. You can also reach the bay by passing through Milas to Ören. If you like adventure, you can also choose the Yerkesik-Akbük road, which passes through the foothills of Kıran Mountain, winding but with a postcard view. It offers great opportunities to take short breaks on the hills and take photos. If you want to come by plane, the nearest airport is Dalaman. It is possible to reach Akbük by renting a car from there with a journey of about 1.5 hours.
Entering the Sea in Akbük Bay is Different
The first thing you notice is the extraordinary clarity of the sea. Being able to see the stones and fish on the bottom reminds you that you will rarely encounter such a clear sea. The first part of the sea has small pebbles, but as it progresses, it gives way to soft sand. The temperature of the water is ideal throughout the summer, neither too warm to cool you off nor too cold to chill you. There are almost no waves due to the structure of the bay. This makes it a safe environment especially for families with children and those who are new to swimming. Moreover, the environment is very favorable for water sports enthusiasts; it is perfect for activities such as canoeing, paddleboarding and even snorkeling.
