The fact that it is an island that can be easily reached in about 8 hours by land is another feature that makes Thassos attractive for a vacation.
So, with so many reasons to visit this beautiful Greek Island, what are you still waiting for? Wouldn't you like to push the limits of fun on the beaches of Thassos this summer and sunbathe on nature's most beautiful gift? Then don't set off without taking a look at the Thassos guide we have prepared for those who have not yet met Thassos! If you are ready, here we go.
How to get to Thassos?
There are several options for transportation to Thassos. However, the most practical one is to take the road from Turkey to Kavala or Keramoti. Because there is no direct flight from istanbul to Kavala, air transportation is a bit troublesome. It is possible to reach Limenas, the port area of Thassos, with a ferry ride that takes about 1.5 hours from Kavala. The ferries departing from Keramoti every half hour during the summer months only take 45 minutes to reach Thassos. For this reason, if you are going to reach Greece by land, it is useful to follow the signs for Keramoti after Xanthi. However, if you arrive with your private car, keep in mind that Turing (International Vehicle License) and insurance are required at the customs gate. You can obtain both documents before you set off or you can get them at the customs gate.
