Anti Paxos Island Guide
In the heart of the Ionian Sea, far from the crowds, there is a tiny island where you can only hear the sounds of nature: Antipaxos. Located just south of Paxos, this tiny Greek island is only 5 km² in size and only 21 people live here according to the 2021 census. But it is so full of beauty that once you visit, a corner of your heart will always stay there.
Clear Beaches of Antipaxos
This is a beach paradise. Vrika, Voutoumi and Mesovrika beaches are the most visited spots on the island.
Vrika Beach: With its fine white sand, it is a favorite for families without children and those who want to “let the sea tire me out”.
Voutoumi Beach: A little more pebbly, but the color of the water... It is truly indescribable! Deep blue, like glass, you can't go back without going into it.
For snorkeling lovers: These beaches are great for clarity. There are no corals, but you can watch the sea floor without even wearing goggles.
How to get to Antipaxos?
The most practical way: Sea taxis departing from Paxos Island.
The boats departing from Gaios Port take you to Antipaxos in about 15 minutes. Moreover, sailing in the magnificent blue of the Ionian Sea on this short journey is an experience in itself.
Alternatively, you can join the boat tours organized from Corfu, but it makes more sense to pass through Paxos to experience Antipaxos to the fullest.
Where and What to Eat in Antipaxos?
Instead of looking for restaurants in Antipaxos, enjoy the tavernas. All with sea views, simple but delicious:
Vrika Beach: Spiros Taverna or Vrika Beach Taverna.
On Voutoumi Beach: Voutoumi Beach Restaurant or Bella Vista upstairs with a stunning view.
They are usually only open during daylight hours, so you may need to return to Paxos for dinner.
You don't. The local wines from these vineyards are sold especially in Paxos. If you are a wine lover, returning from Antipaxos with a little tasting break can be a nice memory.
Is there accommodation in Antipaxos?
Yes, but limited. There are several villa rental options on the island. They promise silence, solitude with nature and plenty of sky. But keep in mind: you may need to go to Paxos for necessities such as grocery stores and pharmacies. So accommodation on this island is more for those who want to “get away from it all”.
When to go to Antipaxos?
The most ideal times: May to October.
In late June and early September, the weather is warm, the crowds are fewer and the beaches are quieter. July and August is the busiest period. If you say “silence is my thing”, late spring or early fall is the perfect time for you.
