Kuslu Konak, which remains from 1853, takes its name from the bird statue upper side of the building. Renovated and opened as a hotel recently, it’s the best-preserved historical building in Bozcaada. There are 5 rooms in the hotel, including 1 suite. Rooms take their names from the people who either built, owned or lived in the building, and they have their own stories. In the mansion, there are certain pieces of art. The under-glass paintings were painted by Nilgün Akyol. The sepia-coloured paintings which were inspired by the old photographs of Bozcaada were made by Hatice Akbıçak Günel. The antique plates that are used in many places inside are “Portugese” type of plates. Irfan Korkmazlar, who passed away recently, is the artist of the sculptures inside. Kuslu Konak, which will be opened at wintertime, also has a lounge downstairs, designed as a dining room with a fireplace, a library full of books about art and ancient civilisations, and owners’ antique collection of “Ottoman porcelain” and “Beykoz glass”. Our guests may enjoy their breakfast, or coffee at any time of day in hotel’s garden which has a magnificent sea and castle view. The hotel has a private beach with dock downtown, near the hotel about 20 metres. Besides, our guests may either has a luxury seasight or go swimming in beautiful coves with the hotel’s private boat. Kuslu Konak welcomes its elite guests for an exclusive holiday experience in our very special island, Bozcaada.
