armara Island is a Turkish island in the Sea of Marmara, also the second largest island of Turkey. The island is one of the most important holiday areas of the summer tourism for tourists, located within the borders of Balikesir province.
Marmara Island is bigger, with fewer beaches and greener than the Avsa Island, also second largest island of Turkey. Marmara Island has motels, pensions and restaurants for visitors to stay. The island is one of just a few places where you can comfortably swim in the Sea of Marmara. Olive orchards, vines in places close to the shore, redwoods in higher elevations and scrub shrubs in the south distinguish Marmara Island from other islands nearby. With more than half its surface area covered with forestland, the Marmara Island has many beautiful beaches including Aba, Kole, Manastir and Mestanaga coves. Famous with its century old plane trees, the Cinarli Village has a coastline with fine sandy beaches and a clean sea. Kayaburnu Cove located slightly past the village, is a favorite place for those who want a quiet place for swimming.
