A short journey to Edirne...
Now we stopped, where did we arrive?
Actually, we did not stop, we traveled and arrived in Edirne. We came to Edirne to see the historical sites of hundreds of years ago.
There is a heartwarming activity on both sides of us in Edirne. From one end, the #AliPaşa Bazaar, where we wander around in a lively buzz, confused about what to look at; from the other side, the famous #Selimiye of the Architect of Jihan #KocaSinan... Edirne is like a treasure of history that instantly makes you realize the transition from looking to seeing!
At this point, we should also mention the beautiful architectural styles of the stone houses. There used to be an almond tree in the garden of every house here. Edirne is also very famous for its almond paste. The oldest of these is Sayınbaş Confectionery @sayinbas_bademezmesi . The flavor of these marzipan spreads on our palate…
To continue looking at history from a broader perspective, we go to #Uzunköprü, which we pass under a thin rain. This place feels like a time tunnel. We have lunch at the nearby meatball shop Niyazi Usta. We can't get enough of the warm flavor of the meatballs and finish our bread by dipping it in the sauce!
Edirne takes us not to nostalgia but to history. The Bayezid II Complex Health Museum is a masterpiece! We feel the need to express our admiration for the classical Ottoman architecture here. It consists of three large courtyards side by side. It was like stepping into a dream world in this legendary place…
Oh, before forgetting, you should also visit Mihran Hanım Mansion in the center. It has a lot of regulars (as it often does). Staying in a local room in its soul-satisfying atmosphere... Who knows how many people are familiar with this quiet, tree-lined mansion of the 1910s?
